Band Of Horses secret show
Wed 23rd Jun, 2010 in International News
Band Of Horses surprised U.S. fans last week with a free show in New York City’s Grand Central Station.
Less than 24 hours before the gig, the band announced they would play on June 18th in what they later described as one of the strangest venues of their career.
Over 1000 fans lined up for the concert, some driving from as far as Ohio. Only 500 of them were able to squeeze into Vanderbilt Hall, where a raised viewing platform stood in the middle of the room.
The band played a set of 15 songs, which lasted just over an hour. Grand Central’s design created strong reverb, but the echo resonated with the acoustics of the building and added a new level of intensity to the group’s haunting melodies.
Offering a glimpse of the setlist for the band’s upcoming Australian tour, the group played a mix of songs from all of their albums, proving that the harmonic tracks on Infinite Arms translate just as well live.
They ended the set with two songs from their first LP, Everything All The Time. At the end of Monsters, Ryan Monroe held the final keyboard note sustained as Ben Bridwell switched to a six-string electric and started plucking the opening notes of fan-favorite The Funeral.
