Though Thom Yorke and drummer Phil Selway have taken time out to record and tour with side projects, a new Radiohead album could be released in late 2010.
During an interview with BBC radio on the weekend Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien revealed that the follow up to 2007’s In Rainbows could be released later this year.
The band entered the studio back in May last year with regular producer Nigel Godrich, and O’Brien told the BBC that the album is likely to be completed in “a matter of weeks”claiming that “the finishing line… it’s in touching distance”.
“I’m really excited,” O’Brien continued, “I feel like this is the best record we ever made. It really is genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time.”
Pressed for a release date for the album O’Brien avoided naming a specific date, but claimed that “ideally, it’d be great if it came out sometime this year.”
