La Roux and Major Lazer get'Lazerproof'

Both La Roux and Major Lazer released well received debuts last year and now the groups have teamed up for a free mixtape of “synth-Britania meets dubstep dancehall”.

The electro-dancehall duo Major Lazer (producers Diplo and Switch) have taken the La Roux album and created a mix that caters perfectly for anyone wanting to hear the pop of Quicksand enhanced my hilariously smutty raps.

Doing for La Roux what Diplo’s earlier mixes Piracy Funds Terrorism and Top Ranking did for M.I.A and Santigold respectively, the mix hurtles through ska, dubstep and hip-hop with guest appearances from Drake, Gucci Mane and Amanda Blank.

When the tape was released for download at Diplo’s Mad Decent site earlier this week 200,000 people tried to download the mixtape at once, causing the site to crash.

Though the mix is less frenetic than we’ve come to expect from Diplo and Switch, Lazerproof also offers another chance for listeners to try out their new daggering moves. Major Lazer is also set to drop a new EP Lazers Never Die on July 20, featuring a new M.I.A. track Sound of Siren, two other new tracks and a pair of remixes from Buraka Som Sistema and Thom Yorke.
