The soundtrack to last year’s installment of the Twilight saga – New Moon – featured Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear and a Bon Iver/St. Vincent collaboration making it the collection most loved and most debated by the indie kids in 2009.
The third installment in the series again targets the hip pockets of stovepipe jeans, featuring a collaboration between Beck and Bat for Lashes called Let’s Get Lost, plus songs from Band of Horses, Florence and the Machine, Metric and the vocal half of Gnarls Barkley – Cee-Lo Green.
The Dead Weather offer a track that didn’t make the cut for the new album Sea Of Cowards, while The Black Keys also offer a tune that seems to have been chopped from its new record Brothers.
Vampire Weekend also makes foray into the ‘real’ Vampire world, making a Twilight debut with a new song called Jonathan Low.
The lead single from the soundtrack comes from Muse, the only act to appear on all three Twilight soundtracks. The trio return to the world of Bella, Edward and Jacob with the typically overblown track title Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever).
Though, however you look the tracklisting it’s a huge improvement on the first soundtrack which featured the collected talents of Paramore, Linkin Park and Collective Soul.
