The Killers' Brandon Flowerssolo album

With The Killers on ‘hiatus’ – and drummer Ronnie Vannucci joining the new ‘supergroup’ Mt. Desolation – Brandon Flowers is set to release a solo album, titled Flamingo.

Flowers’ website is currently streaming a 1:30-long loop of what Rolling Stone calls “new wave-ish pop music, featuring breathy female vocals, slide guitars and synths”.

There is no release date currently set for the album.

If the breathy female voacls are from Toni Halliday (ex Curve who also dueted on the Xmas single) I will buy the album for that reason alone....heck it couldn't be any worse than the last Killers album!

casablancas' solo stuff is incredible.
flowers' will be just as good, looking forward to see what else he can do.
the killers are easily one of the best live bands i've ever seen.

Had a listen, when they both open up and sing strong notes they sound nothing alike, but when they sing soft verses they have the same accent, and no i'm not talking about "oh yer they have american accents" i mean as if they grew up in the same town... though if you are wondering, one is from texas, the other nevada. Maybe brandon grew up singing alot of roy songs and developed his voice slightly like that, but they are not identical, no sir.

Album updates from Spinner:

Produced by Stuart Price, Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) and Daniel Lanois.

Collaboration with Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley including a duet called 'Hard Enough.'

Admits that some of the tracks on the album were intended for a new Killers record - "To be honest, I personally would prefer it if this was a Killers record. Some of these songs were originally destined to be Killers songs, but it is what it is."

Yeah, it was a bit out there..in a hopeful way. Huge Curve/Toni Halliday fan here!
She collabed with the Killers before and her husband Alan Moulder mixes alot of their stuff..but alas looks like she isn't on it.
But she has a new album soon and new band called Chatelaine :)

This song is frickin mint!

Have listened to it many-a-time over the past few days. Don't think Crossfire will represent what the style of the rest of the album will be like - I'm expecting more bombast and glitz in the rest of the tracks. I think this is a lot more stripped-back than what I had expected (even though the chorus is pretty powerful). Can't think of a Killers track in which Brandon sounds as good as he does here (how good is that falsetto - 'lay your body down'?).

Definitely looking forward to this album.

PS: This youtube clip above doesn't have it in full, but the intro music to this song is stunning.

... also, for those interested... this song is going to be released alongside another track called 'On the floor'. It will be a double A-Side.

Flamingo the album is due in September.

Brandon will be touring this album solo as well.

Hot Fuss was just about the perfect pop record, Sam's Town was a departure but also great. Day & Age is a bit all over the place but it has grown on me.

Brandon's album Flamingo came out yesterday (Friday).

Lovin' it already - some really great tracks. And some real odd ones too. He certainly hasn't run out of ideas.

Not a big fan of Stuart Price's production though, perhaps he should stick to remixes.

greggs view : theres a few alright tracks that probably could of gone on day and age or another killers album, the country tracks are a good lol they arent terrible, but in true killers-esque style, the filler is overly bland. but im bias because i hate the killers.

2.2.5/5 give or take a fraction.
