Indie heroes on new Rootsalbum

The new Roots album How I Got Over is due out in June and will feature appearances from indie folk favourites Joanna Newsom and My Morning Jacket/Monsters of Folk frontman Jim James.
The Roots drummer ?uestlove has twittered a video showing him jamming with a “Joanna Newsom Jawn”. The clip features a sample of Newsom’s The Book of Right-On and the band has now confirmed that the resulting track, which also includes new vocal over-dubs from Newsom will appear on the new album.
Entertainment Weekly has also reported that Jim James will make an appearance on the record, most likely involved with The Roots remake of the Monsters of Folk song Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.). The MoF track lends itself easily to a hip-hop make over it is based on a sample of Trevor Dandy’s 1970 gospel tune Is There Any Love.
Neo-soul singer John Legend is also set to appear on the album and back in June last year Billboard reported that the album would also feature “_Walk Alone_, the vintage R&B-leaning Make a Move, The Day featuring Icelandic vocalist Patty Crash and a cover of Frank Zappa’s instrumental classic Peaches en Regalia... [and] a version of Cody Chesnutt’s Serve This Royalty.
Seems that working as the house band on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon might have inspired the most eclectic and experimental Roots album so far.
