No more Love for Courtney

It seems that when the first Hole record since 1998 arrives in late April punters won’t see original members Mellisa Auf der Mauer, Eric Erlandson or Courtney Love in the credits.

Of course, the new Hole record Nobody’s Daughter is still Courtney’s project, but she has told NME that using “the name Courtney Love is a way to oppress me”.

The 45-year-old singer will now go by the name Courtney Michelle – a shortened version of the name on her birth certificate Courtney Michelle Harrison.

Auf der Mauer and Erlandson won’t be heard on the record as they refused to reunite with the band’s leader prompting ‘Love’ to claim that “Hole is MY band, MY name, and MY Trademark” hiring Micko Larkin, Shawn Dailey and Stu Fisher to form the latest version of Hole.

While shedding the name Love, Courtney also told NME that she no longer wants to speak about her late husband Kurt Cobain, claiming that “I am not his spokesperson on Earth. I don’t know what he’d be like now, he could be into society girls, he could be into fat girls, he could be homosexual. We don’t know.”
