Casting Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love has denied the rumour that Robert Pattinson will play Kurt Cobain in an upcoming biopic.
The notoriously unreliable English tabloid The Sun reported last week that Twilight star Robert Pattinson would take on the role of Kurt Cobain in an upcoming film.
The Sun cited an anonymous source that claimed that “Robert has been calling and emailing [Love] non-stop. She has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt.”
However, Courtney Love’s manager Jonathan Daniel has been quick to deny the story telling SPIN “That’s an amazing story, and the first I’ve heard of any of this. I’m not sure [Love] knows who R Patz is.”
Love has also addressed the rumours that the Twilight star would play Cobain. “Isn’t that so stupid? Who would cast him? That’s just wrong,” she told The Canadian Press.
In a series of interviews with the Canadian media, Love has suggested Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy would be perfect to play the lead in the film based on Charles Cross’ biography Heavier Than Heaven.
The Hole frontwoman told Quebec Media, “I like James McAvoy. And I hope you print that, because I don’t know that he knows that I like him.”
In a later interview Love added that she could also imagine Canadian actor Ryan Gosling in the role of her late husband.
McAvoy has been rumoured for the role since 2007, but Gosling bolstered his actor/musician credentials last year by releasing a well received record Dead Man’s Bones in collaboration with friend Zach Shields and a children’s choir.
