After inter-band relations curdled with his New Order cohorts and Bernard Sumner changed the locks to their legacy, it would seem as though Manchester stalwart Peter Hook has been in need of a squatters quarters, this time dusting off the long dormant remains of New Order’s first incarnation Joy Division for a trip down nostalgia lane.
As reported by the NME, Hooky will embark on a multi-date tour around the UK this month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures, including a rather morbid visit to Manchester’s recently re-done Factory Records headquarters on May 18th to mark the same-date suicide of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis. Sound delightful, right?
The tour is being trumpeted as ‘An Evening Of Unknown Pleasures’ and will involve the legendary bassist playing Unknown Pleasures in its entirety (presumably not just the bass parts but with a full band of hired musos) as well as sharing videos, photographs and diatribes about the government all night.
