Daniel Johnston biopic on theway

Father and son film making team David and Jordan Miller have told Pedestrian that they’re working on a Daniel Johnston biopic.
Out on the festival circuit to tout their new film, My Suicide, David Miller dropped the very intriguing news that their Daniel Johnston film will “be an epic super hero story and…a narrative biopic so it doesn’t really cover any of the same stuff that the famous Devil And Daniel Johnston Documentary that won Sundance in 2005 covers.”
Gabriel Sunday, the star of My Suicide, will direct and star as a young Johnston, though he may not get to play the older, larger version of the recent Laneway festival visitor.
Miller claims for the older Johnston that they’re “either putting Gabriel in a fat suit or there’s so many people that are reaching out that are huge Daniel Johnston fans. Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly for example.”
Miller went on to say that they’d like Johnny Depp to play Johnston’s older brother. However, official casting will have to wait until they finish the script and get a better handle on the budget.
The Miller’s current film My Suicide , a coming-of-age comedy about a media-obsessed geek and the most beautiful and twisted girl in school, features music from Devendra Banhart, Bright Eyes, MGMT, My Morning Jacket, TV On The Radio, Animal Collective, Pixies and “eleven movie spoof tunes” from Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh.
