In an interview in with GQ, Jack White revealed that he has just completed a record with Jay-Z.

“We did a song together a few weeks ago,” White told the magazine. “It was incredible. I played him something that I’ve been kicking around for a while and he immediately came out with words for it. It’s unbelievable-sounding.”

It’s not clear at this stage where the collaboration will appear, but Jay-Z recently boasted that the follow up to his recent hodgepodge of an album, The Blueprint 3, would be his “most experimental record ever”. At least a Jack White collaboration is far more promising than another misfire pairing with Luke Steele.

White has also recently declared his desire to keep challenging himself artistically. “I’m told it’s not good business, but I just don’t care,” White explained. “It’s more important to challenge yourself and see what works and try new paths. A lot of them are going to be dead ends, but that doesn’t matter to me – at least I tried. I could sit home and just do nothing.”

The workaholic White begins his first Australian tour with The Dead Weather tomorrow and has promised a new record from the supergroup before the end of the year.
