It might sound like a joke, but it looks as though Ryan Adams is about to drop a ‘metal’ record.

Adams’ is known for his prolific songwriting and it wouldn’t be the first time he has stumbled away from his alt-country sound. Though his previous forays into metal and even rap have been strictly for web release (and fan boy completist) only.

In late 2006 he loaded eighteen albums of nonsense under names including DJ Reggie and The Shit to his site for download. He also continued to dabble with black metal under the name Werewolph and with 80s hard rock as Sleazy Handshake.

However, it seems that Adams’ is serious about this heavy metal project, revealing on his website that he’ll “begin pressing ORION – [his] most legit METAL record—on vinyl next week.” He also notes that “not a single B.C. Rich [guitar] was hurt in the making of this record.”

The first taste of ORION is the raspy and ridiculously named Electrosnake which streaming on Adams’ site beside a poll where you can vote on whether or not you’d buy the record.

FasterLouder encourages you all to vote ‘yes’ as the world is a far better place when Adams’ is doing anything to resist the urge to release a duet album with his wife, Mandy Moore.
