It’s a busy day of news from The Strokes, with Julian Casablancas confirming an Australian tour, plus a new album and headline slot at Lollapalooza.
Casablancas has told the Chicago Tribune that his band will headline Lollapalooza in August, and hope to have a new record out in September.
“I’ve written a lot of melodies for it,” he told the paper, “but the other guys have also contributed a lot more: melodies, choruses, parts. It’s way more collaborative. So it’ll have a different feel than our other albums.”
The word in the Chicago media also points to a Lollapalooza line up that will see the Strokes joined by Lady Gaga, Green Day, the Arcade Fire, Phoenix, and a reunited Soundgarden.
The three day, eight stage Lollapalooza festival runs from August 6 – 8, so there’s still a chance that The Strokes can squeeze in a Splendour in the Grasstrip trip.
