Though My Chemical Romance abandoned their planned Soundwave tour citing issues with frontman Gerard Way’s voice, it seems that there may have been other forces at play in the decision to cancel the shows.
In a post on the My Chemical Romance website, guitarist Frank Iero has revealed that “As of four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and [drummer] Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours and expect you all to do the same.”
Bryar had been behind the kit with the group since 2004, when he was drafted in to replace original drummer Matt Pelissier.
However there is some good news for the fans, with Iero promising that their next album isn’t too far away. The four remaining members of the band have already returned to the studio and according to Iero “what has been ending up on tape each night is some of the most exciting and honest work we have ever created.”
