‘Bleedin' obvious’ namefor supergroup

Announced on the Coachella lineup under the mysterious/pretentious name ???, the band that sees Thom Yorke teaming up with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker, multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco, and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Flea will now be known as Atoms For Peace.
While it may be an improvement on a name that was sure to be pronounced as “Huh,huh, huh”, the new name still has pretension close at hand, referencing a speech by American president Dwight D. Eisenhower that promoted the peaceful use of nuclear energy in countries including Iran. Oh, and it’s also the name of a track on Yorke’s solo album, The Eraser.
Announcing the name change on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space blog, Yorke commented that the name Atoms for Peace seems “bleedin’ obvious”, though surely Thom Yorke and the Bleedin’ Obvious has a better ring to it.
