INXS 'reimagining' classics

For its next album, the sort-of-still-standing INXS will revisit its back catalogue with a cast of guest vocalists. The tribute (self-tribute?) album is set to feature big names like The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, Ben Harper and reportedly even dark and dastardly trip-hop survivor Tricky.
After initial news of the concept last year, it has been revealed that the collection is set for a 2010 release.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, the band’s drummer Jon Farris enthused about the “really beautiful, heart-wrenching rendition” of Beautiful Girl Flowers performed while in Australia for V Festival last year. Just as you always dreamed, Rob Thomas has been locked in for Original Sin and Never Tear Us Apart.
One man who is unlikely to be invited onto the new album is Rockstar: INXS winner J.D. Fortune, who was dismissed by the band “with a handshake” at Hong Kong airport, even after he’d worked long and hard on a cocaine habit.
