Kurt Cobain biopic is go

Like it or not, the Kurt Cobain biopic that has been mooted since 2007 is at last getting underway. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the as-yet-untitled film has some intriguing players on board.

Cobain’s widow Courtney Love will take time out from her Hole duties to act as executive producer alongside her lawyer Howard Weitzman. While that may raise alarm bells, the director Oren Moverman seems a considered choice. Moverman’s directorial debut The Messenger (revolving around two American military men tasked with delivering death notices to the families of soldiers killed in Iraq) was a standout of Sundance last year and earned Woody Harrelson an Oscar nomination.

The Cobain script is set to be based on Charles R. Cross’ 2002 biography of the Nirvana frontman, Heavier Than Heaven.

The kid who played Cobain in that piece of shit movie Last Days should get the role..... did it fucking well IMO.

The guy that played the Kurt surrogate in the Gus Van Sant film Last Days, Michael Pitt, should play him...

EDIT : whoops, I should say, I second clashpalace's opinion. Although I thought the movie was excellent, rather than a pos.

My god, could such a short lived phenomenon be milked dry any further? It smacks of opportunism and tired predictability, as do so many film releases these days, music or otherwise. The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long and that was true of Cobain but seriously, do we need this fucking film?

That leeching wench of a wife of his already signed off on the highly distatesful Cobain journal release. And now, a biopic! Are we gona see riveting tales of his crippling stomach condition? His youthful social alienation? The technicolour vistas of Seattle in the late eighties? The fall into full blown heroin addiction? The inabilty to cope with the fawning vacuousness of fame? Sounds like a fucking riot for the mutliplex audience, doesn't it? 'Let It Be' as someone far more measured and far less interesting once said...
