2008’s elfin superstars MGMT will release their next album, Congratulations, on Friday 9 April. Don’t expect a repeat of Oracular Spectacular, though. According to a verbose press release, this LP is “a collection of nine individual musical tours de force”.
As the duo told NME recently, none of the album tracks are planned for release as singles (we’re not sure what the label’s take on that is, though). “We’d rather people hear the whole album as an album,” Ben Goldwasser explained.
Helping guide this outing is Spaceman 3 founding member Pete Kember, whose extensive production credits as Sonic Boom made him MGMT’s first choice.
Congratulations track-list:
It’s Working
Song for Dan Treacy
Someone’s Missing
Flash Delirium
I Found a Whistle
Siberian Breaks
Brian Eno
Lady Dada’s Nightmare
Congratulations
