Pretend for a moment we live in an alternative universe where the Grammy Awards count for something. Well, AC/DC just won their first one! The homecoming rock greats claimed ‘Best Hard Rock Performance’ for War Machine at the Los Angeles ceremony.

While it’s unclear just which AC/DC Hard Rock Performance the judges were assessing, they trumped Linkin Park, Metallica, Alice In Chains and the cruelly-robbed Nickelback.

Another first-time winner in the 2010 Awards is Neil Young, who has made no secret in the past of his disdain for the Grammys. It mightn’t be quite the honour fans were expecting, with the man picking up – œbest art direction on a boxed or special limited edition package’ for Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972).
