Battles making 'Mirrored'follow-up
Wed 27th Jan, 2010 in International News
Brain-scrambling four-piece Battles released one of the best albums of 2007 with Mirrored, and a successor is at last in the works. Speaking with NME, the band confirmed studio sessions are about to begin, although the album has already started taking shape in the unlikely location of New York’s Time Square.
“Where we are is really seedy,” guitarist Dave Konopka told NME. “It reminds me of old school Midnight Cowboy era New York. Most of that area has been Bloomberged into consumerism, ESPN zones and Broadway shows, but on the outskirts there’s little pockets of vice. We’re playing right above a jack shop.”
The actual recording, however, is set to happen in the far-less-seedy surrounds of Rhode Island city Pawtucket.
