The upcoming version of Alice in Wonderland from Hollywood’s favourite remake artist Tim Burton is set to be accompanied by Almost Alice a compilation of songs inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic.

Wolfmother, Franz Ferdinand and Robert Smith all join the tea party with The Cure frontman contributing the only song on the album that was also featured in Disney’s 1951 animated version of the story.

They’re surrounded by a collection of acts more likely to be found scribbled onto a preschool pencil case than in Wonderland with Metro Station, Avril Lavigne, Tokio Hotel, 3OH!3 and a collaboration between Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus also set to feature on the compilation.

Thankfully most of this horridness will not be heard during the film, with Burton’s regular composer Danny Elfman providing the score, though Avril will wail over the end credits as you flee the cinema.

The film, staring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Matt Lucas, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman and the genuinely mad as a hatter Crispin Glover, is due out in March.
