For only the second time in the band’s history, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has unmasked himself in a film-clip for the metal giants.

Never ones to shy away from a bit of controversy, Slipknot released their new single Snuff, to a wave of public outcry in December. Despite what the title may imply it was not the FCC up in arms about the new tune, but rather some of the bands most loyal followers.

Snuff, which is the fourth single from their 2008 release All Hope Is Gone, showcases Slipknot’s – œsofter side.’ Nary is there a brutal riff to be heard, it is all gentle guitar crescendos and – œmy pain is deeper than your pain – œlyrics.

Despite the initial uproar, the track has gone on to be one of the bands most successful singles topping the charts in the US and even resulting in an invitation from Jimmy Kimmel to perform Snuff on his TV show.

Now the band has pushed the envelope once again, releasing a short-film co-directed by Slipknot percussionist Shawn Crahan and starring Malcolm McDowell and Ashley Laurence from the 1987 horror flick Hellraiser. But of most interest to fans, the – œfilm’ also features, for only the second time in his career with the band, an unmasked Corey Taylor.
