Metal's 'Big Four' headlineSonisphere
Wed 16th Dec, 2009 in International News
After much speculation, the – œBig Four’ – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – has been confirmed to share a stage for the first time. The bands head the bill at the Sonisphere travelling festival, playing shows in Warsaw and Prague on June 16 and 19 2010 respectively.
A post on the Metallica website confirms the historic team-up, with some gushing from Lars Ulrich: “Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal’s big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindfuck! Bring it on!”
While fans have been calling for this occasion since the early-1980s, life is a little different for the Big (Villa In Los Angeles) Four these days. The question that remains so far unanswered is: which ego is big enough to demand the headline spot?
