Jay Reatard takes on stageinvaders

As anyone who caught his volatile shows on the Laneway Festival tour will know, Jay Reatard is not a man to mess with. Just months after declaring his touring band “boring rich kids who can’t play for shit anyway”, the Memphis renegade has had another run-in.

A Jay Reatard show in Austin last night was cut short after just 40 minutes, when two rowdy punters climbed onstage and attacked the frontman. Fittingly, he fought back with his microphone stand, before exiting the stage with middle finger raised. The offending fans were later arrested and charged with public intoxication, while the rest of the crowd went home to an early night. Punk!
