U2 to headline Glastonbury2010
Tue 24th Nov, 2009 in International News
The Claw will stay in Dublin next June, when U2 headline the first night of Glastonbury. After rumours circulated yesterday courtesy of The Sun tabloid, Glasto chief Michael Eavis issued a statement confirming the landmark booking.
“I promised the best possible line-up for the show next year,” Eavis wrote on the festival website, “and the confirmation that U2 will play their first ever Glastonbury – and their first major festival gig since the early 1980s – is fantastic news.”
After a shaky 2008 edition, this year’s romp at Worthy Farm sold out long before any official line-up was released. The faithful were rewarded with a mammoth bill headed by Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Blur, but demand is sure to be even more intense in 2010. U2 is the first confirmed name for the forthcoming festival.
