Franz Ferdinand Get LooseRecording New Album
Tue 19th Apr, 2005 in International News
Straight from the horses mouth, or rather the Franz Ferdinand website, songwriter, Alex Kapranos quietly hinted at where the new album is heading. Ahead of a Teenage Cancer Trust Charity concert at The Royal Albert Hall, Alex Kapranos waxed keenly about the newer, looser direction recent recordings have taken.
With work well under way on the new album, the Glasgow four-piece, who swooned through 2004, are letting their influences filter through to their caustically fraught disco-centric grooves.
With an ear for the lyrical genius of Dylan and the classic experimental work of Bowie in the late ‘70’s, Kapranos mentioned the band are looking for ways to expand their sound but also retain their undeniably delicious pop charm.
With the band working with producer Rich Costey (Bloc Party, Doves, Mars Volta) Franz Ferdinand may be heading in directions we might not have expected. The excitement is palable so keeping your dancing shoes near by! No date has been set as yet for the upcoming release.
