Following on from Monday’s news that Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut album is due to be released in Australia on 13 November, the band have posted their first single from the record on YouTube.

The track, titled New Fang, showcases the slightly poppier end of the threesome’s repertoire, whilst retaining the gritty Homme guitar work we have become familiar with in QOTSA songs. However, the most enjoyable element of the track has to be Dave Grohl’s drumming. It has been a long time since we have heard his talent channelled through this instrument and it is a welcome return.

Does anyone not think that Dave Grohl is a huge wanker? Obviously he requires a certain amount of respect and praise for Nirvana, early Foo Fighters and his QOTSA contributions, but I thought the best part about seeing them live was Josh Homme, who no one gave a shit about.

That's a reasonably long list of awesome stuff Dave Grohl has done.

I'm not a fan of any recent Foo Fighters records, but I hardly think the guy is a wanker. He happily takes the piss out of himself at every given opportunity. Probably the reason why Jack Black appears in half their film clips with him doing stupid things rather than the rest of the band.

It's more about him being a wanker. He has done some real cool shit. But have you heard the new FF single? I don't see it as taking he piss, it seems more though that he believes he is better than everybody. It's just the vibe.

i dont think anyone here is hung up on Nirvana, unlike certain other bands, but whether you liked them or not, their role in musical history is undeniable.

I like Dave, I like that he's been in a number of really great bands, i like that he doesn't take himself too seriously, at least the times I've seen/heard him, and I like that he knows how to put on a show.

I dont like any foo fighters records since the first half of Nothing Left To Lose, although they're usually good for a single or two.

I dont like that they were associated with and supported a group that denied the existence of AIDS - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo_Fighters#Campaigning_and_activism

and although I've only heard the last half of the new single, I like it.

Good lord, that ended up longer than it meant to...

I always assumed it was for real - I never heard it straight from their mouths, but assuming the things that the wikipedia article mentions did actually happen (organising an event to promote the cause etc), then it seems that way...

better than than new line up. Looks like andrew just got together a bunch of dudes who look like him.
Also i bet foo fighters will make a mystery festival show apperance as nate is already here with sdre so all you need is chris and taylor really.

well yes, but it's funny watching live tonight sold out & seeing dave being a big fat hypoctire . Especially when dave is going on about extreme and all those 'dinosaurs' and in some ways foo fighters are basically a modern day extreme.

Gee I thought John Paul Jones woulda done vocal.. surely josh and dave have had chances to sing with other bands, tad unfair, josh is a microphone hog! what happened to sharing?
