Last here for the V Festival in 2008, British indie rockers The Rakes have decided to drop everything and call it a day. With a UK tour imminent, the group has told NME.com that it has simply come down to not being able to give it their all anymore.
“If we can’t give it everything then we won’t do it. That was the rule we set ourselves from day one. After much deliberation we have come to the shared conclusion that we can’t give it 100 per cent any more and regret to announce that The Rakes are calling it a day,” they said in the statement.
The band were within days of starting a string of dates across both the UK and US, all of which have since been cancelled. They leave behind a legacy of three albums, including this years Klang, and such memories as supporting the Jesus and Mary Chain.
