Beck's covers club rolls on
Thu 22nd Oct, 2009 in International News
As we reported back in June, enigmatic oddball Beck and his hip friends have started The Record Club. They get in a studio together over one day to cover an iconic album from start to finish, then release their work to the world to marvel or snigger at.
After tackling The Velvet Underground & Nico, the club has turned its attention to Songs Of Leonard Cohen. The indie-sanctioned guestlist for this session includes elfin superstars MGMT, Wolfmother main man Andrew Stockdale, avant-folk hero Devandra Banhart and Little Joy’s Binki.
New interpretations from Cohen’s masterwork continue to appear on Beck’s website, some of them intriguing; others intriguingly flat. Have a listen below to what’s been happening in the Record Club – and find more here.
