After comparatively sluggish sales in 2008 and 2009, tickets for the incomparable 2010 Glastonbury Festival sold out on Sunday within hours of going on sale.

Fans who pre-registered for tickets faced hours waiting on jammed telephone lines and failed internet servers, leaving many frustrated punters without tickets. Those who were lucky enough to get through forked out a whopping £185 for tickets and had to endure a nervous wait of up to 24 hours for confirmation emails to arrive.

It is estimated that well over 150,000 tickets were snapped up in the first round sale, with thousands more eager punters going empty handed when tickets ran out 12 hours into the sale. Those who missed out in the first round will have to try their luck when a smaller second round of ticket sales opens in March 2010.

Whilst Michael Eavis is yet to make an announcement as to any of the big-name acts who will be gracing the stage at next year’s event, rumours are already circulating as to who the headliners will be. Being the 40th anniversary of the festival, and possibly Michael Eavis’s last time at the helm, promoters are already hinting that 2010 will see the biggest lineup ever to grace the legendary Pyramid Stage.

Blur, Kasabian, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young headlined in 2009. Names already strongly rumoured to headline in 2010 include David Bowie, Radiohead, Muse, Bob Dylan, Massive Attack, U2, The Rolling Stones and an all-star RnB Michael Jackson tribute lineup.

Going to the Glastonbury Festival? Miss out on tickets? Dream headline acts? Make some noise in the forum!
