After calling temporary curtains on Nine Inch Nails at the end of their last US tour, Trent Reznor is set to pursue more personal music endeavours – including plans to record with long time hero, – œ80s glamour punk icon Gary Numan.
During the last year, Reznor has taken the time to invite many of his inspirations into the studio, including all four original members of Jane’s Addiction. Numan, who was a recent on stage guest at several of NIN’s farewell concerts, was humbled by Rezor’s acknowledgment of his influence in a recent onstage speech.
“You don’t want to be really, really humble, because it looks as if you don’t appreciate it, and you don’t want to be going – œoh yes’ because it looks like you’re full of yourself,” said Numan of the experience. “It was really awkward.”
With Reznor set to marry former West Indian Girl singer Mariqueen Maandig in the coming months, Numan expects the pair to start working together either “later this year or early next”.
