Death of Rolling Stonesguitarist reexamined
Wed 2nd Sep, 2009 in International News
The Rolling Stones have never been far from controversy. After FasterLouder reported that a banned film showing the band getting loose on coke was leaked on the Internet, police will now reportedly review their investigation into the death of original guitarist Brian Jones.
Amid rumours of a murder cover up, Jones’ death was originally ruled an accidental drowning under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Builder Frank Thorogood, the man last seen alongside Jones in the pool, apparently admitted to killing the 27 year-old guitarist. On his deathbed, Thorogood told Rolling Stones driver Tom Keylock, “It was me that did Brian”.
Despite the apparent admission, police have decided to reexamine the case after evidence given by Janet Lawson, the woman who discovered Jones’ body on 2 July 1969, put Thorogood at the scene of the crime.
The victim, perpetrator and witness are all dead now. Talk about a cold case.
