In-flight Chris Cornell

Finding a silver lining somewhere above the clouds, Chris Cornell has teamed up with Virgin America to give his much maligned album Scream a new lease on life. ‘Highlights’ from the man’s Timbaland-era oeuvre are set to greet passengers as they take their seats on Virgin flights in the US.
While it’s unlikely Soundgarden was ever invited into this elite club ( Missy Higgins, Ben Lee and Sneaky Sound System are its leading Australian delegates), Cornell’s new-found sheen should fit as snugly as an overhead oxygen mask.
A press release from the airline giant trumpets: “The entire Virgin America fleet feature Chris Cornell music on all flights. His latest LP, Scream, has been added to the airline’s music library and select songs will be a part of a collection of music that plays as passengers are boarding.” They better hope one of those passengers isn’t Trent Reznor.
