Pete Doherty has confirmed that seminal english post-punk band The Libertines will be reuniting. The reunion would span the 2010 UK Festival season, with Doherty and original members John Hassall and Gary Powell already comfirmed.
Speaking with NME.com, Doherty seems adamant to make the reunion happen. Although he outlines that dates will only be confirmed once frontman Carl Barat in on board, he has gone as far as saying that even a lookalike will suffice. “Maybe I could reform The Libertines without him, like he did without me,” he said.
The last proper Libertines shows occurred in 2004 without Pete Doherty, who had been kicked out for drug abuse. It might be too early for any Australian tour rumours, by this reunion in itself proves anything is possible.
