In one of his most revealing interviews yet, Thom Yorke has stated that Radiohead aren’t looking towards recording another full-length album. Speaking with The Believer magazine, Yorke declared that the influential five-piece are tired of the LP format.
In an expansive interview which revealed the singer’s disillusionment with the current state of the music industry, Yorke made it clear the band would be pursuing different recording avenues in the future. Reflecting on the In Rainbows recording process he said, “It’s just become a real drag. It worked with In Rainbows because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we’ve all said that we can’t possibly dive into that again. It’ll kill us.”
The interview itself offers a candid look into the mind of Yorke as he reveals how he believes CDs are “just a fucking nightmare”, that he hopes Radiohead have never built a distinctive sound and how a little-known MP3 site called Boomkat is the only place where “people know what they’re talking about”.
There is no need for Radiohead fan-kids to despair just yet though, Yorke did hint towards the planned release of more Radiohead material akin to recent release Harry Patch (In Memory Of). A song dedicated to the death of the last surviving World War One veteran, it’s available here .
