In heartening news for fans marooned in Australia, Blur will be recording its two-night stand at London’s Hyde Park for an album release. After each show, the entire set will be professionally mixed and mastered for purchase as an MP3 or double-CD.

While touted as a – œsouvenir’ for those lucky enough to have tickets, it’s also likely to serve as (small) consolation to those who don’t. Blur’s London dates this week sold out long ago, boasting a festival-worthy support line-up of Foals, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Crystal Castles, Friendly Fires, Vampire Weekend, Amadou and Mariam, Florence and the Machine and Deerhoof.

As reported earlier, the Britpop trailblazers ruled Glastonbury with their closing set on Sunday. While BBC won’t let us watch their footage, we’ll have to take The Guardian’s word for it: “Blur: the best Glastonbury headliners in an age? It really, really, really did happen.”
