Those psychedelic adventurers Flaming Lips have pulled out all stops for forthcoming album Embryonic, calling on the talents of MGMT and Karen O. In an interview with the Swiss website Die Klangschau, ringleader Wayne Coyne revealed some of the names on the guest-list for the two-disc opus.

“We have MGMT doing a song with us and we have Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing a couple songs with us,” he announced. “For the Karen O tracks, I just called her up in her hotel room and we just did it right over the telephone. It’s pretty absurd.”

Slightly more obscure is the guest appearance “by this weird mathematician guy from Germany doing some spoken word stuff”. We have confidence the Flips can make even that sound engaging. Embroynic is due in September, a couple of months after Coyne and co. have dazzled us at Splendour In The Grass.
