Coldplay and AC/DC tie on RichList
Wed 24th Jun, 2009 in International News
Powered by their hugely successful world tour, AC/DC has come in sixth on this year’s Forbes’ Top-Earning Musicians list. They share the ranking with fellow stadium-fillers Coldplay and country stars Rascall Flats.
All three bands brought in $60 million from June 2008 to June 2009. Despite AC/DC’s tireless efforts on the road, they were outgunned by Super Bowl hero Bruce Springsteen, who amassed $70 million to score the #4 position.
Bombastic rock shows had nothing on bombastic pop warbling, though. *Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour propelled her to the top spot ($110 million), followed by Vegas fixture Celine Dion ($100 million) and Beyonce Knowles ($87 million). And wait…is that Dave Matthews Band with $45 million? The wonders never cease.
