Beck creates a covers club
Fri 19th Jun, 2009 in International News
Super-absorbent musical sponge Beck has announced his next project – a series of one-day studio sessions in which he teams up with other artists to re-record classic albums. Announced via his website, the ‘Record Club’ has already attracted MGMT, Devendra Banhart, Jamie Lidell and actor Giovanni Ribisi.
The idea is to arrive at the studio without any rehearsal and recreate the entire album in the space of just one day. The results will then be shared on beck.com. First up is The Velvet Underground & Nico. A video is now online of the Record Club taking on Sunday Morning, and doing it rather pleasingly. Some people have all the fun.
