Monsoon warning forGlastonbury
Tue 9th Jun, 2009 in International News
With several FLers making the enviable pilgrimage to Glastonbury in 2009, weather experts have delivered a word of warning. As reported by NME, the festival is likely to be hit by a monsoon this year. Dr Craig Wallace from the University Of Southhampton has pointed out that two bouts of torrential rain pass across the UK each June – one at the start of the month and the other in the final fortnight (that means Glastonbury).
While mud is as essential to the Glasto experience as apocalyptic Portaloos, the slow ticket sales of 2008 was blamed by organisers on the washout of – œ07. Surely a bit of squelch underfoot can’t detract from a line-up that includes Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Blur, Bruce Springsteen and just about every other band on the planet? We look forward to reports from the frontline.
