Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails began their double-headline US tour in Florida last week, but the juggernaut has already hit some snags. A review of the first concert in Rolling Stone praised the athleticism and swagger of Jane’s (“the four band members looked a lot like their 1990 selves”) while conceding that NIN didn’t quite work in the early evening, outdoor setting (“It’s always been a bit hard to take lyrics like – œIf there is a hell I’ll see you there’ seriously, but it was even harder with a beach ball bouncing around the audience’s heads”).
However, for all the reviewer’s admiration of Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro’s loose limbs, it seems some things have changed since the – œ90s. NME reports that Farrell was taken to hospital by ambulance following a performance in Atlanta on Sunday night. During their show at the Lakewood Amphitheatre, the “preening, prancing, silly satyr” (thanks, RS) tore a calf muscle but soldiered on for the remainder of the set. The frontman has been advised to stay off the leg for several days. Now that’s rock – œn roll!
