There was some surprise from FLers when we announced Kaiser Chiefs would be opening for Green Day on their upcoming US tour. Well now the mix has got a little weirder, with the addition of Franz Ferdinand. The angular dance-rockers are the special guests from Texas onwards, with the Chiefs handling the New York to New Orleans leg.

It’s part of a mammoth worldwide trek for Franz Ferdinand, who’ve been hard at it since their Australian visit over New Years. Despite an apparently modest turnout for the band’s set at Coachella, they’re still a festival sure-thing. In the months ahead, they’ll play The Volt Festival, Benicassim, Glastonbury, Pinkpop and more of that stature.
