NOFX mean no harm (really)

Those punk pisstakers NOFX have attracted the tut-tutting of another group: Tegan and Sara fans. The offending song is Creeping Out Sara from new album Coaster, which sees Fat Mike recalling a clumsy meeting with one half of the Canadian duo (he’s not quite sure which half).

Lines like “maybe I just pissed her off when I asked her if she ever had a threesome with her sister” apparently attracted ire amongst Tegan and Sara’s gay fans. The frontman is a little surprised that his joking has been misconstrued.

“It’s basically a true story,” Fat Mike told Spinner. “I was drunk, we did hang out at a festival and we were talking about sex. I mean, I’m dissing myself! I sound like a drunk creep, so I don’t know what the problem is. Their fans think I’m making fun of them, but I’m not. We had a really nice time that day.”

Despite a flurry of disapproval from some Tegan and Sara devotees (“Lots of email/texts/blogs/phone calls,” Tegan wrote on Twitter), the ladies themselves are amused. They even contacted NOFX to tell them so.

“We’ve been supporters off the LGBT community forever,” Mike continued in the Spinner chat. “We have rainbow flags on our fucking stage. We totally support that community. We call ourselves a ‘gay positive’ band – not ‘tolerant,’ positive. We think gay people are awesome and better than straight people because they’re having more fun.”

Have a listen to Creeping Out Sara below.
