Paul Banks, gallant leader of New York four-piece Interpol, is striking out alone. The man will release a solo album, Skyscraper, in August – under the moniker Julian Plenti.
As reported by Billboard, Matador Records is touting the record’s “cocky, sexy” feel. While Skyscraper was recorded recently, some of its songs were apparently written more than ten years ago. News of the solo outing comes a couple of months after Interpol announced it was beginning work on a new album.
“Now the band has reconvened, and we are rehearsing new songs,” Interpol posted on its website in March. “We find ourselves marveling at the tremendous focus that has defined our rehearsals for this, our 4th effort.”
