Another ridiculous Roskildeline-up
Fri 17th Apr, 2009 in International News
Regarded by many as the ultimate European festival, Roskilde has gone all out once again on its 2009 line-up. The four day event (with four days of local warm-up acts beforehand!) is held south of Roskilde in Denmark and attracts over 100,000 punters. Even more remarkably, it’s been running since 1971 on a not-for-profit charity model.
Headlining this year’s extravaganza are Kanye West, Coldplay and Nine Inch Nails, with plenty to marvel at lower down the list. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will be there, as will Lily Allen, Oasis, Fleet Foxes, Slipknot, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pet Shop Boys and countless others. Those Kiwi poster boys Cut Off Your Hands have also earned themselves a place on the bill. Roskilde succeeds as a true multi-genre festival, with metal, dance, rock, pop, folk and all the rest co-existing in unwashed harmony.
FasterLouder’s Libby Clark was there in 2007 to witness the likes of Muse, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Flaming Lips and The Who. She wrote this cracking review that you really must read.
