Blur flesh out return shows

Supporting Britpop heroes Blur on their comeback trail would be a dream calling for many a starry-eyed band. Luckily, Damon Albarn and co. have chosen the the line-ups wisely for their shows in London’s Hyde Park.
As reported by NME, the first day (Thursday 2 July) sees the stage warmed by coiffeured art-pop outfit Foals, sprawling jazz collective Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and dancefloor pleasers Crystal Castles and Friendly Fires. On Friday, the daylight hours will be wiled away by Afro-aping upstarts Vampire Weekend, plus Amadou and Mariam, Florence and the Machine and Deerhoof.
“A brilliant collection of bands have agreed to join us for these two shows in Hyde Park,” Blur manager Chris Morrison told NME. “It is really important to the band to get the right mix and now we’re able to announce what we believe is an exceptional line-up.” Yes, we certainly wouldn’t turn that mini-festival away…
