Chris Cornell collaborateswith fan

Fresh from being the butt of Trent Reznor’s April Fools joke, Chris Cornell has turned his attention to more solemn matters. The former Soundgarden frontman was recently contacted by Texan fan Rory de la Rosa, who lost his six-year-old daughter to cancer before being diagnosed with the disease himself. After some correspondence, Cornell decided to adapt a poem written by de la Rosa into a song.

The resulting – œcollaboration’ I Promise It’s Not Goodbye has been made available on Cornell’s website as a free download. “In return, Chris hopes you will make a donation in memory of Ainslee and help ease the financial burden of disease,” the website blurb reads. “All money raised will go direct to Rory’s family to help pay medical bills.”
