The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place on Saturday night in Cleveland, with 2009 honorees Metallica bringing along some old friends.

The metal powerhouse had two bassists in tow on the night: current member Robert Trujillo and his predecessor Jason Newsted. Eight years after Newsted last appeared onstage with Metallica he was back to celebrate the group’s legacy. So too was Ray Burton, father of Metallica’s first bassist Cliff Burton, who died in 1986. The band capped off the ceremony with a performance of Yardbirds’ Train Kept A-Rollin’ – alongside a rock – œn roll dream team of Jeff Beck, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Flea and Jimmy Page.

It wasn’t just Metallica’s night, though. Masters of “two turntables and a microphone” Run DMC were also inducted, with Eminem coming out of hiding to present the award. Other greats welcomed into the Hall Of Fame included Wanda Jackson, Bobby Womack, Jeff Beck and Little Anthony and the Imperials.
