Hot on the heels of Fuji Rock, the finishing touches have been put on the bill for Japan’s Summer Sonic festival this August. Now we can righteously scream from the rooftops: ” Beyonce for Splendour In The Grass!” That’s right, Mrs. Jay-Z is set to headline the Sunday night festivities, with younger sister Solange a little further down the bill. Add ‘em to the list.

But enough about that, as we’ve noted with keen interest the addition of one Elvis Costello. The legendary songman last paid us a visit as a guest of the Sydney Festival in 2006 – is it too early to call for a return?

Also relatively new to the line-up are French indie-pop quartet Phoenix (who have a gig in the UK on the weekend of the Splendour, pity) and English rock ruffians Kasabian. Aussie reps doing us proud at Summer Sonic include Tame Impala, The Temper Trap and, err, The Veronicas. The 10th Anniversary edition of the festival happens on the weekend of 7-9 August.
