This week’s greatest album release news that isn’t an April Fool’s joke comes from oddball partners-in-crime Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse. The prodigious US band and hip hop maverick have sent hipster blogs into seizures with news of their collaborative effort.
Reportedly titled Dark Night of the Soul, the record features a staggering guestlist to rival N.A.S.A’s latest. That’s right: Iggy Pop, Black Francis, the Flaming Lips, Julian Casablancas and – allegedly – filmmaker/Twitter weatherman David Lynch are all on board. The Sparklehorse/Danger Mouse project has been validated by a poster in the style of a 1970s thriller, with – œAlbum Coming Summer 2009’ printed at the bottom. Reznor, you’ve been one-upped.
